Breast and bowel cancer awareness sessions

My highlight from last week was getting to meet the lovely Raj and Toni from the Healthy Hyde Wellbeing Team and the group of wonderful ladies that attend their monthly Luncheon Club for Refugees and Asylum Seekers. A delicious lunch is provided and a different topic is discussed every month at the Luncheon Club - this month's topic was about breast and bowel screening and what happens at a screening appointment. Nabila Farooq from the Breast Screening Unit for GM and Answer Cancer delivered a fantastic talk and demystified the whole process from the initial invite to test results. I was also able to speak to the group about the support we can offer them as their local Macmillan Information and Support Service if they face a cancer diagnosis in the future or are caring for someone with cancer. Dr Lisa Gutterridge from Haughton Thornley Medical Centre was also around to answer any questions.
