We are extremely proud to receive the award. It's a testament to the tireless work of the community of Tameside and Glossop, the healthcare teams both Tameside and Christies, Macmillan information and support team, the volunteers and fundraisers, community and voluntary groups, all of whom in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to ensure the Tameside Macmillan Unit and the Tameside and Glossop Macmillan Information and Support Service continue to deliver the highest quality services and support in the most supportive environment. Patients appreciated the unit being closer to home, all found the environment calm and relaxing and the staff warm welcoming and friendly
A patient attending the unit for treatment said “coming to the unit is like having a big hug” At a time when hugs are in short supply being able to help a patient to feel this way is amazing.
